‘I have spent the summer of 2023 participating in the Commercial Banking Internship Program at National Westminster Bank in Edinburgh, UK.

During the internship, I assisted my team in conducting credit analysis and witnessed how the transactions were processed between different teams and functions within the bank. I have gained exposure to some practical financial models and the preparation of a comprehensive credit analysis report from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives. The courses of the GLEF program have equipped me with a sound foundation of basic understanding of the financial market which helped me to pick up the work swiftly.

The internship experience also helped me in developing my interpersonal skills. I worked with people from different cultures, backgrounds, and nationalities during the internship and eventually built a diversified network throughout the period. We also have a diversified student community in the GLEF program, which helped me to develop a global perspective. I could then better understand cultural differences and it allowed me to work comfortably and enjoyably with colleagues from different places in the world.

Working in the commercial banking division allowed me to gain in-depth knowledge of a wide range of industries and explore how society works on different levels. It astonishingly bordered my horizon and I truly think it is a fruitful occupation to work in.’
