Yannes Yau – Queen’s University, Canada

“This school was not my first choice to be honest but now looking back at the photos, I am beyond grateful for doing exchange at Queen’s University.

Work hard, play harder is sort of easier to achieve during the exchange. I do understand it is important to keep our GPA high but why not head off for some random road trips after a full month of grinding for midterms and finals? I will never forget the times visiting national parks such as Banff and the Grand Canyon. They are absolutely insane.

The life there also brought me so many new opportunities that I believe can never or hardly happen in Hong Kong. Staying in a house instead of a dormitory with 5 full-time students, watching solar eclipse on the house roof, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with street parties, experiencing these all within a semester is crazy.

Staying in Hong Kong is great for sure but you will eventually find something even better when you look at the other side of the Earth. ‘Take the exchange opportunity and broaden your horizon’: this is no longer just an answer to an interview question, it is actually true!!”
