Andy Hsu – Wellington Management

“Wellington is one of the top asset management firms in the world with more than 1 trillion US dollar asset under management. I was there as a research summer intern during June to August 2019. Fortunately, I completed the internship and seized the chance to join them as a full-time research associate after graduation. I am determined to join Wellington because it is the best platform for juniors to develop their career in Investment Management. They provide ample resources for researcher to conduct research. More importantly, their corporate culture promotes collaboration between colleagues from all levels and locations. Under this cooperative environment, juniors can learn extremely fast from senior colleagues and are encouraged to share their ideas in the firm. The learning curve will be absolutely steep.

I felt that the whole internship was similar to a test of my ability to conduct work as a full time investment associate. Wellington gave me a very high degree of autonomy to conduct research and make judgement with the structure I designed. My mentor also helped me and taught me a lot during the internship. I learnt a lot from my mentor and reflected on my process of thinking closely with his guides. During the whole internship, I completed one macro project researching the meaning of a government conference and three equity research projects. Before the end of the internship, I presented my investment idea on one of the three companies I researched and defensed my idea in a roundtable discussion session.

Through this internship, I confirmed that I love this job and I want to pursue a career here. Because I can learn new things every day and I can really conduct in-depth research on different business. By doing this, I can move closer to my ultimate life goal, which is to puzzle out how the world surrounding me works.”
