“In summer of 2017, I had a chance to work in the equity research department in China International Capital Corporation (CICC). This journey into equity research is fantastic and rewarding.

During my internship, I was involved in several different tasks. Different skills and knowledge are involved in the tasks. Through the experience, I explored more about equity research. I also received some on the job training, from which I learnt various valuation models and financial modelling techniques. I had the chance to reach out to different amazing people, communicating and exchanging ideas and views, from which I expanded my network and obtained insightful information. Lastly, I also had the chance to translate the classroom knowledge into the workplace. I really appreciated the fact that what I learnt from the program help me to get a result in real life.  

For one, I am able to translate skills and projects experience I grabbed in class into the workplace. In this sense, GLEF does provide students with what the industry expect for fresh graduates. For another, in the workplace, I am thrilled to learn more practical skills and concepts prevailing the industry. It is a nice and amazing experience to explore my potential beyond the academics in the real life business.

In my undergraduate study, I am glad that I have a wonderful combination of academic and industry experience, which certainly help me to make a clear decision for my short term and long term career. The Global Economics and Finance Program owns myriad of resources in supporting students’ personal development, professional skills and career strategy, as well as offering terrific internship opportunities. In GLEF Program, I enjoy the privilege of having both academic and career resources from the world-renowned Department of Economics and Department of Finance in CUHK.”
