“My internship took place at the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (hereinafter referred to as HKEX), as a summer intern in 2017. The eight-week experience allowed me to step into the centre of Hong Kong’s financial market. HKEX is a very unique place that connects issuers, brokers and investors. In many ways, it is a regulator, a market operator, at the same time it is also a massive listed company. It is therefore the best place to get insight into the financial industry, as I could meet stakeholders from different sectors within the industry, to see how they cooperate in just one single place, the Hong Kong Exchange. 

I was very lucky to join HKEX and the Equity Product Development team. From there I was able to put my knowledge into practice to conduct researches on derivative products. Within the two months I learnt that HKEX is not just the place that people list and trade, but also develops new products for exchange participants. It was an invaluable exposure to work with the product teams, a place where creativity is highly encouraged. It was also an amazing experience as I could join the soccer team and play together with the Chief Executive every week!

GLEF has equipped me with a comprehensive look of the financial world, not to mention that various workshops have provided me with additional and significant soft skills that assist me to excel and gain the most in every internship opportunity.”
