‘Last summer, I had the opportunity to intern in an Investment Analyst role with Tree Line Advisors, Hong Kong-based long-short Asia growth equity hedge fund. While at Tree Line, I monitored news, performed research, and updated financial models on companies in the Technology sector in Asia. I also covered digital assets and prepared bottom-up analyses of tokens for the investment team.

This internship has been an invaluable opportunity for me to experience what it is like to work in a Hedge Fund Analyst role. Throughout my three months at Tree Line, I have developed skills in research, analysis, due diligence, presentation, and financial modeling. More importantly, this experience has further reinforced my aspiration for a career in the investment management industry.

Growth investing requires paying attention to new promising themes, and a successful investor needs to be effective in recognizing these themes early enough. Digital assets, autonomous driving, artificial intelligence, and sustainable energy are just a few of such themes today. The job of Investment Analyst is very exciting and intellectually rewarding, you are closely following the latest developments on the companies and industries that you cover while trying to build up your own differentiated views. I also enjoyed the dynamic nature of public markets during my internship – you cannot afford to be slow in this industry and need to always try your best to stay on top of things.’
