Internship
Eureka Hon – Hang Seng Bank
“Hang Seng Bank, which is an affiliate of HSBC, is one of the most long-standing domestic banks in Hong Kong.
Having worked in such a professional and performance-driven company, I have equipped myself with industry knowledge and positive working attitude throughout the 6-month internship at relationship management department of Global Banking Division.
University life could pose different meanings to students, some may focus on academic achievement, some may engage deeply in society affairs while some may concentrate in part-time jobs.
The most memorable one happened in my year 3 university life.
Cecilia Yeung - Hong Kong Monetary Authority
“In the past year, I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work in the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA).
Awash with anxiety and uncertainty, I started the job in June 2017.
My colleagues were extremely friendly and they would unreservedly demonstrate to me how to deal with different tasks whenever I encountered difficulties.
All in all, the placement program was an amazing experience and I was absolutely delighted to have made the decision of taking a gap year and working in the HKMA.”
Agul Chau – HSBC
“I have participated in an internship as a CO-OP student trainee at the Group Wealth Management team of HSBC for 6 months from July – December 2017.
Besides, being in the Group Team greatly expanded my scope of vision, increased my understanding towards different markets both by products and by regions.
HSBC, being one of the most frequently talked name in Hong Kong, is a decent place for students to kick start their career in banking industry.
Miki Chan – HSBC Insurance (Asia)
“During 2017, I completed a 6-month full-time internship with the role of Co-op Student Trainee in HSBC Insurance (Asia) Limited.
Working in the Strategic Planning and Analysis Team, I was responsible for supporting the product governance activities.
I was also directly involved in preparing high-level management reports and coordinating the product committee meetings, which I can learn the importance of accuracy and effective communication with seniors.
Thanks to my manager, Karen.
Jason Lee – UBS AG
“After completing my exchange program in 2016-2017 Term 2, I immediately joined UBS AG as their summer intern in Group Operations.
During the internship, I was given an ample amount of work within my team such that I could be really involved with the team and the firm, as well as learn the most – technically and personally – out of those ten weeks.
From this internship, and based on what I have learnt from the GLEF curriculum, I gained much greater understanding of the global financial markets, as I had had hands-on experience in dealing with the real-life operation of the banking industry, and also the opportunity to work with teams from various regions over the world.
