Internship
Victor Tee – BNP Paribas
‘In the first semester in 2023, I joined the BNP Paribas off-cycle internship program and interned with the Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) team.
During the six months with BNP Paribas, I was actively involved in the deal pitching and execution process, from helping to prepare marketing materials, Teasers and Investment Memorandums, to learning about the contents of a Non-binding Offers (NBO) by helping to translate it from Chinese to English.
Furthermore, I was given the chance to assist in the financial modelling process, which included helping to calculate Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) and conducting Comparable Companies Analysis.
Lastly, I would like to extend my utmost appreciation and sincere thanks to all of my supervisors who supported me wholeheartedly throughout the internship.
Victoria Leung – MUFG Bank
‘During my first semester in 2023/2024, I have performed a 6-months placement internship in MUFG Bank.
During my placement internship, I have been mainly assisting the Global Corporate Banking Department 2 with utilities and government service providers as their main client base.
Undoubtedly, this placement internship sharpened my hard and soft skills.
Here, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my internship colleagues and managers in providing much guidance and advice on my workplace and future career path.
Ashley Lau – BNP Paribas
‘Over the last summer, I joined BNP Paribas Wealth Management as an intern.
The eight-week internship at the Investment Service team has allowed me to gain a comprehensive understanding of the private banking industry from the product side and strengthen my ability through hands-on experience with the team.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to BNP Paribas for offering me the opportunity for the invaluable internship experience, and GLEF for equipping me with technical and analytical skills throughout the journey.’
Reyna Kao – Wellington Management
‘The summer of 2023 stands out as a significant chapter in my academic and professional journey.
Reflecting on my internship journey, I am grateful for the mentorship and support I received from the firm's seasoned professionals.
Furthermore, my academic journey at the Global Economics and Finance Program (GLEF) has complemented my internship experience by providing me with a comprehensive understanding of global economics and finance.
Overall, my internship experience at Wellington Management and academic journey at the GLEF program have been invaluable in preparing me for a successful career in global economics and finance.
Marco Wong – The Insurance Authority
‘I have joined the Insurance Authority as an intern last summer.
During my internship, I acquired a thorough understanding of the insurance industry during my internship, including knowledge of different products, appropriate sales techniques, and features that safeguard customers.
My technical and soft skills, especially in communication and presentation, greatly improved during the internship.
The Insurance Authority places a strong emphasis on teamwork among employees, and I had the good fortune to work with knowledgeable and experienced coworkers who were eager to share their knowledge with me.
For students who are interested in learning about the responsibilities of a local regulator, I think the internship opportunity would be a great fit.’
