Karan Ramchandani Ramchandani – AlphaSights

“I did not know about AlphaSights, or even about the existence of the industry prior to my job search.

AlphaSights is an information services company that connects experts known as advisors with its clients on specific topics.

The first week of the internship was called “AlphaCamp”.

After the week of AlphaCamp, mock calls and CP test I got onto the desk where I was assigned a trainer and a manager on a specific team.

AlphaSights has a heavy emphasis on monitoring the professional development of their associates.

Overall, I had a fruitful experience at AlphaSights and most of my tasks involved connecting clients with the appropriate expert for 1-hour phone interactions.

There were a couple of opportunities where I had the chance to conduct presentations regarding weekly team performance statistics, future targets and any interesting findings I had to share.

Furthermore, with GLEF being a small course, I had access to having several meetings with Prof.

Ingrid Mok – Cathay Pacific

“In July and August 2019, I worked as a summer intern in John Swire & Sons (Swire) Summer Internship Programme.

I was seconded to Cathay Pacific Airways, one of the operating companies.

To ensure that I have support every step on the way, Swire provided me with access to coaches and a management trainee buddy who will offer guidance and development feedback throughout the Programme.

Being a GLEF student, I have attended different courses to attain subject-specific skills that enable me to apply economic principles and models.

Moreover, both Faculties have provided resources for students to gain more exposure to the commercial and cultural world through courses of different themes, talks held by external speakers, while training students in job-hunting through workshops and interview practices.

It was a privilege to utilize my analytical skills and knowledge gained from previous courses in GLEF.

Natalie Chiu – JBA Capital Management

“I undertook a two-month internship as an Equity Research Intern at JBA Capital, a small-size hedge fund based in Taiwan.

During the two-month internship, I had completed eight equity reports in total.

I feel that during the internship, I was treated like a regular employee in JBA.

The internship enables me to assure my interest towards the equity market and finds lots of aspects that really attract me.

Thanks a lot to JBA, though it is a small company, I gained a lot of practical experience, formed close relationship with the company and be more certain about the future career that I would like to develop.

Majoring in GLEF leads me to learn a great deal about how money works, and about financial instruments, stocks, bonds, markets, how macroeconomics and microeconomics work.

4 years in GLEF has been an exceptional journey beyond my imagination.

One of the most things that I admired is that GLEF does not aim to train students to merely expertise in finance yet upon that, to equip students to have the ability to think logically and critically independently.
